About the Role
Safety Officers are responsible for ensuring workplace environments comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations. They identify potential hazards, implement safety measures, and promote a culture of safety to protect employees, equipment, and facilities.
Requirements
Education:
High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety, environmental science, or a related field preferred.
Experience:
2-5 years of experience in a safety officer or similar role, preferably in construction, manufacturing, or industrial environments.
Certifications:
OSHA 30 or OSHA 500 certification required.
Additional certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Associate Safety Professional (ASP), or First Aid/CPR certification preferred.
Skills:
Strong knowledge of workplace safety regulations (e.g., OSHA, EPA, NFPA).
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for training and collaboration.
Analytical and problem-solving skills for identifying hazards and implementing solutions.
Attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
Other Requirements:
Ability to conduct safety training and present information effectively to diverse groups.
Physical capability to inspect work sites, including climbing, walking on uneven terrain, and working in various weather conditions.
Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite and safety management software.
