About the Role
Fiber Optic Installers are responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of fiber optic cables that provide internet, telephone, and television services. This role requires technical expertise in working with fiber optic systems and a commitment to safety and quality during installation and troubleshooting.
Requirements
Education:
High school diploma or GED required.
Certification in fiber optics (e.g., Certified Fiber Optic Technician [CFOT], Fiber Optic Installer Certification) preferred.
Experience:
1-3 years of experience in fiber optic installation, maintenance, or related fields preferred.
Skills:
Proficiency in fiber optic splicing and testing techniques.
Knowledge of tools and equipment used in fiber optic work, such as OTDRs, fusion splicers, and cable strippers.
Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic abilities.
Basic understanding of networking and telecommunications systems.
Physical ability to lift heavy equipment, work in tight spaces, and perform tasks at heights.
Other Requirements:
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation; willingness to travel to job sites.
Availability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends, as needed.
Knowledge of local and national telecommunications codes and standards.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
